Broderick is suspected of gunning down two women and one man at the intersection of Great Hills Trail and Rain Creek Parkway in Austin near the Arboretum shopping complex shortly before 11:50 AM.

The shooting was originally reported as an "active shooter situation", but police have since said it was an isolated domestic event. According to a report from USA Today, Broderick was already facing charges of sexual assault of a child, for which he was jailed in June of last year before posting bail.
