Governor McConaughey? It could happen. He is a Texas native and has hinted in the past at a run for Governor.

According to KETK News, the beloved Texas actor recently appeared on The Balanced Voice podcast, where host and Crime Stoppers CEO Rania Mankarious again brought up the idea that McConaughey should consider running.

“Should your next leadership role ever include you, you know, running for governor of this wonderful state, we’d be very happy," Mankarious said.

McConaughey responded with, “I hear you. It’s a true consideration".

He later said, "I’m looking into now what is my leadership role. I do think I have some things to teach and share. What is my category in my next chapter of life that I’m going into now?” He then went on to talk about the difficulty of instilling leadership values in our children in a world in which instant fame and fortune are pushed as the definition of success.

McConaughey appeared on the podcast to talk about his new book, 'Greenlights', in which he shares deeply personal moments from his life that made him the person he is today. He hopes that others can learn from his experiences and find ways every day to stay positive and be grateful.

The metaphor, of course, is making sure that you take the opportunity when life gives you green lights, and not allow yourself to let the times you've been victimized or let down in life become a red light.

McConaughey was born in Uvalde, Texas, and graduated high school in Longview Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin  from the fall of 1989 and graduated in the spring of 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film.

McConaughey currently works as a professor for the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication.

McConaughey is a proud Texan and has used his celebrity for some good things like creating a virtual benefit to help Winter Storm Uri victims. He also appeared in a PSA with Gov. Abbott about the importance of social distancing in March of 2020 when the pandemic was starting.

Although he is undecided on a run for governor, what do you think? Does Governor Matthew McConaughey sound good to you or not?
