Donations of essentials to help with Hurricane Laura relief in Louisiana are being accepted now through Friday, September 4.

Our neighbors across the Sabine could use items like fuel and 2-cycle oil for chainsaws, batteries, toilet paper, paper towels, first aid kids and medical supplies, cleaning supplies, rope, charcoal and cooking fuel, bread and dry foods, clean drinking water, gift cards, batteries, and other items you might need if you were facing extended power outages and storm cleanup.

Even items like diapers for families with infants and toddlers would be greatly appreciated. Bug repellent spray and pet food would also be of help.

JP Brazeal, President of the Central Texas KIDFISH Foundation, was kind enough to meet me at Marine Outlet in Temple Wednesday to talk about what's needed. (See video above.) He and several others are trying to get a truck loaded by Friday night and on the road Saturday morning to some of the hardest hit areas, many of which are home to senior citizens who aren't able to leave their neighborhoods for everyday items and could use help with cleaning and repairs.

Supplies can be donated at Marine Outlet (4410 S General Bruce Dr, Temple), Magnolia Realty (1195 N Pea Ridge Rd, Temple), and First Baptist Church-Academy (304 State Hwy 95, Little River-Academy).

If you can't make it out to donate but you want to help, please consider donating to the Salvation Army or Red Cross.
