This weekend, kids can learn the skills it takes to become an entrepreneur with a fun, free community program.

According to Lemonade Day Fort Hood, this educational program was created in 2010 with children in mind. It teaches kids how to start, own, and operate their own business by opening a lemonade stand.

Lemonade Day takes place every year during the first weekend in May, and is open to all children regardless of age, color, race, handicap, economic status, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identification.

A press release from Lemonade Day states:

"Lemonade Day engages thousands of children annually by preparing youth for life through experiences that propel them to success they likely would not have pursued otherwise. Using an interactive app and workbooks, Lemonade Day teaches kids how to start their own lemonade business and encourages them to spend some, save some and share some of the profits with a cause that matters to them."

If you have a kid who would like to participate in Lemonade Day, there's still time to register by visiting here.

There's also an annual VIP bus tour guided by Lemonade Day staff on May 1 that will visit lemonade stands scattered across the community. If you're interested in attending, please remember to have cash on hand for some tasty lemonade. Prices for a cup usually range from $.50 to $1.00.

Two options for Saturday, May 1st:

- CCISD District Service & Training Center, 408 S. Main, Copperas Cove at 10:00 a.m.

- Fort Hood / Killeen / Harker Heights Tour – Bus will depart from the KISD Main Office located at 200 N W.S. Young Dr. at 1:00 p.m. and return by 3:30 p.m.

To reserve your spot on the bus, follow this link.

Let's help our community see continued success by participating in fun, free educational efforts like Lemonade Day. It's a great way to teach kids the value of hard work and earning a living while still having fun!
