It went to number one in 1975 for Van McCoy. He was a singer and producer who produced hits for such great singers as Gladys Knight, and Aretha Franklin. He has 700 song copy writes to his name.

He was born on this day in 1944. Alas, he didn't survive the 70s. He passed away on July 6th, 1979 and the young age of 38
