I'm not sure I like this, but nobody asked me my opinion. I'll give it to you anyway.

Hollywood is remaking yet another classic movie. This time they're updating The Wizard of Oz, and I have to ask, "why?"

Why remake one of the best movies ever made? The Wizard of Oz is a classic that has stood the test of time. It doesn't need to be remade. That movie is such a classic that there is no way anybody could come in and do a better job than the original actors.

Who could play Dorothy better than Judy Garland? Nobody! Who could play the Scarecrow better than Ray Bolger? Nobody! The same can be said about the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. Nobody can play those roles better than the original cast, so why remake a movie that can't benefit from being better than it already is?

The answer is easy: Hollywood is out of original content, so they look to update or remake the classics instead.

So to be fair, New Line Cinema is doing a "new adaption" of the L. Frank Baum children's novel from 1900. According to a report from KXXV 25, "New Line said it will be a "fresh take" and a "reimagining" of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."

The new version will be made by Nicole Kassell of Watchmen fame. Also, unlike the original movie from 1939, the new one will not be a musical. However, the new "adaption" will still have some of the trademarked items like the ruby slippers.

So will I see it? Probably not in a movie theatre, but once it hits the streaming services, yes.

So what else can be "reimagined"? Why not re-do Gone With the Wind or Casablanca, or even the original Star Wars? Or have those already been re-done?
