June 10th is Iced Tea Day, and Bush's Chicken is celebrating by giving away free 32 oz servings of their famous sweet tea, today only from 2-5pm at participating Central Texas locations.

Iced tea, my drink of choice, has it's day and it's today, June 10th. I personally like mine unsweetened with a slice of lemon and served over ice. They say it's an "iconic summer beverage", but I drink iced tea all year long.

Here's a quick history of tea...

Tea dates as far back as 5,000 years to ancient China where, as legend has it, Emperor Shen Nung discovered tea when leaves from a wild tree blew into his pot of boiling water. He liked the smell of it so he decided to drink it.

Fast forward to the 19th century, when Historians believe that people began serving cold tea. Cold tea became a very popular beverage when vendors began selling it at events and the World’s Fair.



These days, tea comes in a variety of different flavors, and mixing it with different beverages is also a common happening. One being the “Arnold Palmer,” which consists of half iced tea and half lemonade. Another popular tea drink is the "Long Island Iced Tea" which, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't really have tea in it at all...
