Various sources are reporting that Killeen ISD is working with Killeen Police to investigate a violent threat issued Thursday night on social media.

The threat was made on Instagram, but has since been removed, and is believed to have contained both the image of an automatic weapon and a threat of violence on Friday outside of the school, along with repeated uses of the n-word.

Killeen ISD Superintendent John Craft released the following statement Friday morning:

The Killeen Independent School District Safety Department, KISD Police Department, and local law enforcement agencies are currently working collaboratively with the Killeen High School administration to investigate a social media posting pertaining to the safety of the school environment. At this time, appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the campus and classes will proceed as scheduled. All entities are dedicated to ensuring appropriate security measures are in place, and the safety of our students and staff remain a top priority.

We appreciate this information being brought to our attention allowing District and Campus Officials to intercede and effectively respond in a timely manner and in accordance with our safety protocol and procedures.
