Many cities in Texas are still dealing with the after effects of Winter Storm Uri. If you find yourself driving around big cracks and potholes during your commute, you're feeling some of the pain.

While the weather here in central Texas is starting to warm up, and spring break is happening this week for students throughout Texas, some numbers are starting to come in regarding the damage left behind last month's extreme winter weather.

City of Killeen Executive Director of Public Works Danielle Singh recently spoke with BrenShavia Jordan, a reporter for FOX44 News. Singh said a full recovery could take years, and she's asking for the public's patience.

Singh estimates the damage to Killeen roadways will cost about $40 million. He said city crews have been working to make repairs, but contractors are going to have to be called in for some areas with higher traffic volume.

The winter storm left millions without power, and Insurance Journal reports that the damage from broken water lines is estimated in the billions of dollars. Experts, they report, are saying this could be the costliest winter storm in Texas history. According to Yahoo! Finance, it could end being our costliest storm period once the tallies are in.

The cost is high, and it will take some time to get the streets back to normal, but the work is being done and if you see a road that needs repair you can report it HERE.
