Let's face it, these days you really can't tell what is what.

Is it the flu?

Is it COVID?

Is it Cedar Fever?  (which is a strong allergy)

What is it???

Basically, they all have some of the same symptoms but are different viruses.

WFAA gave a report on the difference between the three here are some helpful hints as we go into Winter 2022.

The Common Symptoms

Between the flu, COVID-19, and Cedar Fever they all have the same symptoms.

For instance, symptoms for all three are cough, runny nose, fever, and sore throat.

What Is The Difference

Although the flu, COVID, and Cedar Fever are all different, they do have different symptoms. With Cedar Fever, other symptoms include itchy and watery eyes.

With The Flu, sometimes body aches accompany sore throat.

With COVID-19 you suffer from fatigue, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea, shortness of breath, and vomiting.

Different Ways To Contract

Cedar Fever has more to do with pollen in trees than anything. A person's allergies can really get bad when exposed to the polled in juniper trees. According to the report from WFAA, you can tell whether you have a virus or allergy by the color of your mucus. Texas A&M Forest Service biologist Robert Edmonson says it’s an allergy, if its clear, if it’s got color, then it’s probably a cold or the flu.”

At the end of the day the best way to determine what you may have, see a doctor.

Yall stay safe out there!
