North Beach and South Beach are closing along Padre Island National Seashore to vehicular access until Saturday August 1st.

According to KENS News 5, the park stated on social media, “The health and well being of visitors and employees at Padre Island National Seashore remains our top priority."

Officials with the park also said they are working with the National Park Service Office of Public Health to ensure that areas are kept safe and clean for visitors, employees, partners and volunteers.  The park service will continue to monitor the area and will adjust ordinances accordingly to ensure the public stays safe and healthy to the best of their ability.

Bird Island boat ramp will continue to have pedestrian access as well as Malaquite Beach.  Camping at this time inside the park will not be allowed.

Padre Island National Seashore is planned to re-open on Saturday, August 1st, at 6:00 a.m.

I've never been to Padre Island, but I definitely plan on going at some point.  With all this happening right now, it may be a little bit before I make the trip.  At least until after August 1st, which is not that far off.
