If you've live or have commuted through Temple in the last couple of years, you know how bad the road construction was on I-35. IT WAS A MESS! It seemed like it would never end. That's exactly what it's like to drive through Waco right now.

But there is good news. According to a report from KXXV, Channel 25, construction is happneing on time and should wrap up in 2023 as scheduled.

The project began in May of 2019, as is scheduled to finish in 2023. The six mile stretch of I-35 is being widened to accommodate the growth of the Waco area. With that also comes moving waterlines and additional frontage road construction.

TxDOT Public Information Officer for the Waco district, Jake Smith, tells Channel 25,

“The goals of the project is to construct four lanes on each side. It's also a complete reconstruction of the northbound and southbound frontage roads. By the end of the project, travelers will be traveling on new pavement no matter where they are driving within the corridor.”

The road construction is 35% completed, which puts it right on time to be finished in 2023.You can traveling through Waco and want to see updates on crashes and closures, head to waco4bmap.org for updates.
